On Saturday, January 28th 2012, Kirkville Engine 3, out of service on driver training with a two-man crew had just finished pump evolutions at a hydrant on Maricarol Lane in Kirkville. As the engine was returning to quarters via North Manlius Road, just a block into the Minoa Fire District, the crew witnessed a rollover collision taking place in the distance between a minivan and SUV. The crew immediately issued a radio report to the 911 center which activated additional units and went right to work on patient assessment, vehicle stabilization and hazard control. All three accident victims refused medical treatment, however the SUV sustained major damage. Minoa Car 2 (Erard) had incident command. All units returned to service within an hour.
